took me months to finish this but it was worth it. hualian’s story is now my favorite love story and they deserve everything
I'm so emotional right now, I can't think of a way to talk about this book but I can for sure say that it made me sob. I literally sobbed. It was amazing. Hualian is amazing.

EDIT: reread the second half of the novel recently. such a good book. i'm so happy. her writing is wonderful and her characterization, is as always, impeccable. each character had their own cohesive narrative. i am blown away again by xielian's narrative. i think the character i enjoyed the most was actually the villain. loved the humor, the lore and the heart behind this one.

My best and worst reading experience ever because I just cannot stop crying reading this book. It is beautifully written. A little bit too long for my liking but hey, it still managed to make me hooked until the end.
Ended up reading the 7 seas translation (I started this as a fan translation)

I'm obsessed with this book. I have written unreasonable numbers of words analyzing it and am on my third read-through of the entire thing. It's just so good in so many ways, and so interesting, and rewards a close read!
