inspiring mysterious medium-paced

5.0

I really enjoyed reading Death at Valley View Cottage. This was my introduction to the series, and I think it works fine as a stand-alone. The mystery itself is good... I thought I had it figured out before Maddie, but I was wrong. I enjoyed looking into the situation along with Maddie, and trying to work out the solution. Plus, I always appreciate it when an author manages to fool me!

Perhaps the best part of this book was the character of Maddie herself. I loved seeing her develop as she works through the end of her marriage and realizes some things about herself. There's so much potential for her as she moves ahead in life (and mystery solving) as a single woman, and I can't wait to read more!
