This was such a sweet story! I loved the focus on family, cooking, and finding happiness is unexpected places. I loved Dylan, he was so kind. Especially when he was dealing with an asshole customer or his boyfriends (very rich and slightly obnoxious) family. And Theo, the fake date/boyfriend was such a sweetheart. I loved that he just wanted to hangout and be around Dylan and his family. I also loved how close Dylan’s family was and that they actually acted like a family with all the teasing and jokes and working together. It was just so nice to see in a YA book!

Honestly, I think this is gonna be one of my favorite books I’ve read this year! It felt like home, even though I’ve never been to Brooklyn or had the chance to eat some of the foods mentioned in the story. It was just that good. Fake Dates And Mooncakes is getting five out of five stars!

Too insta love for me. Plus, it was dialogue heavy without the dialogue being very interesting. The food sounded good, though.

This had me kicking my feet, giggling, crying, and there was an audible “shut UP” from me at a certain sweet moment - you’ll know when you get there.

Insta love isn’t always my jam, but this was just too good. Perfect balance of drama, heart melting, and happy moments. The way the story discusses grief and remembrance was also top notch. All around beautiful story.

This is exactly the kind of romance I can fly through. The MCs have good chemistry and a cute development, there's drama present, but not overwhelming or unbelievable, and the supporting cast are just as loveable as our mains. I absolutely loved how Lee incorporated all the Singaporean customs and traditions, including the Chinese characters and language. My only critique would be that Dylan and Theo came together maybe a little too easily, but still, again, it wasn't too unbelievable. I would put this on my list of fave romance reads.

This was a cute story and the chemistry between Theo and Dylan was pretty adorable. I also thought the exploration of grief and the fear of losing someone was tied into the narrative in a simple but effective way for a young audience. I did feel like the book was a little over the top at some points and dove into the melodrama. While the relationship was cute it felt like it moved super fast and the plot surrounding the money issues was a tad uncomfortable. Overall the characterization was strong and you got a sense of the characters and what their life was like before coming together.
