I have no idea what to rate this right now ‘cause I really need to let this book sink in but WOW.
update: after wiping my tears away and not feeling like an emotional wreck, I realised this was the easiest 5 stars ever. (and that I need book 2 ASAP) full review to come.

Oh my freaking gods! That was absolutely brilliant. I actually don't have many words to describe how this book made me feel, but i will try.

I fell in love with Bryce. She was such a kick-ass, take no shit female. Someone that I aspire to be. She had so much guilt and grief stored within her and it was sad, but also nice to see her deal with it. Hunt is just drool-worthy. Another SJM male that I wish was mine lol. His traumatic past really helped him and Bryce bond and it was so, so heart-warming to see them help each other heal and find strength in one another.

The ending was SO good. With Danika and Ruhn helping Bryce as much as they can. That moment between Danika and Bryce was sad, but was just so needed for Bryce to heal.

The only thing about this book was that it only really picked up at about half way through. The first half dragged on a bit and was slow, but it became faster paced and really got my attention. I feel the book didn't need to be 800 pages long and could have been a couple 100 pages less. BUT, in saying that, we did really get to see Hunt and Bryce's connection develop strongly and both them help each other on their healing journeys. So it didn't bother me too much to deter me from enjoying the novel!

Overall, I'm posting this review and then immediately picking up the next book, so would definitely 10/10 recommend to absolutely everyone.

YES YES YES! Reading this felt like watching Agents of SHIELD or another Marvel show but in the realm of fantasy (Yes I know Marvel is technically fantasy/science fiction), scratch that, this was a Marvel universe made by Sarah J Maas. Two of my favorite things here people!
To the root of it, this is a story of a young woman dealing with the grief of a close friend during a vulnerable time of life. The best parts of this book were part 3 and 4. The first two parts were good and still managed to keep me hooked, its just the world building had to be done and honestly, props to her for doing it in such a short amount of time. If I were trying to write out the intricate and expansive world that this takes place in, I would be yapping for the length of the entire series just trying to make myself understand the rules of the world. Anyways, parts 3 and 4 were the moments I couldn’t put the book down. The angst and hurt/comfort were just incredible.
To sum it up in even less words…. a girl, her cat, and her dead best friend are unstoppable. A sentence I find myself relating to on the rare occasion I have an ounce of confidence in my bones. ANYWAYS, this book was very good. Sarah J Maas knows how to punch me in the gut and somehow make it so I’m the one thanking her for doing so. I am both terrified and excited to read the second book.
Blah blah blah, thanks for reading my yapping
