Normally I love Katee Roberts, however, I did not love this book. It felt rushed with no character or plot development. The initial spicy scene threw me off right away and I felt uncomfortable. I won’t be reading the series.

A good erotica book is a book first with erotica scenes and elements. This "story" is a bunch of stitched together sex scenes with a paper thin plot. The magic system is even more thinner and is just an excuse for more sex. A lot of world building seemed thrown together, and some of it didn't make sense.

Romance erotica books are also supposed to have romance I  it. All Mina has is this vague "connection" that is all tell no show because they fuck more than they talk. These characters barely know anything about each other, and they don't really bother to ask. Plus, there are several spelling errors.

The male leads are just flat archetypes of characters. They have some potential to be fleshed out, but it never explored. It never touched on how they know each other.
It is never touched on how Malachi got trapped. It is mentioned the last sacrificed killed herself and never mentioned again.
Pretty much anything that doesn't directly lead into sex was dropped.

Mina as a character internal acts like she is being empowered to make her own choices for once. In reality, she is simple going along with what the male leads want. She loses all rational thought when horny. She doesn't really do much. The sex and "plot" happen to her. She doesn't really actively make things happen. She is basically just your average female protagonist that's pitched as "strong" and "empowered" when she really makes no choices and seems to exist only in relation to her love interests.

At least the sex itself is good. The author can write excellent sex scenes. It is every other aspect of this book that has failed to impress. There is some room for  for fleshing out characters by having relationship building and interactions outside of sex. It just seems that the author only cares about erotic portion of the book and nothing else. At that point, I might as well just browse Ao3 or Literotica and get sex of a similar quality that's free and takes up less of my time by not pretending there is more to the story than there is. This book is what you get if you stretch a porn without a plot tagged one shot into the length of a novel.

Plot and characterization does need to suffer because of explicitness. I don't plan to continue with the series.
