A slow start to this trilogy with more romance than action. Still readable for vampire fans and hopefully the pace picks up in book 2.
First of all I love Nora Roberts. And I will listen to anything that Dick Hill reads. But this book itself, was just meh for me. I don't even feel the need to read the rest of the series.

Já há algum tempo que um livro de Nora Roberts não me sabia tão bem. E como eu já andava a suspirar por uma trilogia da escritora, foi juntar a fome com a vontade de comer.
Acabei a leitura deste livro deliciada com a história que Nora Roberts imaginou. É um excelente inicio de trilogia que me faz suspirar pelos livros seguintes.
É uma história que fala de família, mundos e tempos diferentes, muito romance, uma guerra contra o mal, um apocalipse. Adorei, adorei, adorei! Já tinha saudades dos livros de Nora Roberts que tivessem magia e finalmente pude ler um livro assim.
Acho, no entanto, que Nora Roberts tem de aprimorar as suas cenas de luta porque sabemos que este matou estes e aqueles com isto ou aquilo, mas muito pouco pormenorizado, não conseguimos visualizar essas cenas. Eu sinto-me como se estivesse dentro da casa, tendo visto as personagens sair para combater os maus da fita (vampiros) e depois vejo-os entrar a dizer "Ah e tal matei estes tanto com isto e aquilo, ou desta ou daquela maneira". Espero que os livros seguintes sejam melhores nesse aspecto.
Quanto ao romance, sendo isto uma trilogia, vamos ter romance em triplicado. Mas já neste livro conseguimos visualizar quem são, porque vai havendo aqui e ali alguma interacção que faz prever isso. O romance deste livro começa logo no inicio e dado que a história ocorre em pouco tempo, é um romance muito rápido, mas é como se se juntassem as duas partes de um só corpo. É bonito :)
Enfim, vou ficar à espera de poder ler o seguinte livro, esperando que me possa deliciar como fiz com este :D

It's been awhile since I've read a Nora Roberts paranormal trilogy, and in that time my knowledge of the paranormal genre has grown quite considerably. I guess you could say I used to NR trilogies as stepping stones into the genre.
Which is why I think I struggled with this book at first. The world building wasn't quite as intricate as I've become accustomed to, and the chants and incantations in this book seemed a little silly to me.
But...by the time I was halfway through, the story had me hooked and those things that bothered me at the beginning of the book were less troublesome by the end.
I'll definitely read the remaining two books in the trilogy.

This book reminded me of another NR series, “Guardians Trilogy”—same type of diverse cast with witches, werewolves, and other magical beings coming together to defeat some ancient evil demon.
I couldn’t pick a character I wasn’t annoyed with. The main couple—Hoyt and Glenna—were tolerable at best. They didn’t inspire me or have great chemistry; they were just bland. Cian and Moira’s attitudes were grating and added nothing meaningful to the group dynamic.
King and Larkin were the best so far. They had humor, contributed to the team, and felt like the only ones trying. King stood out—he’s the first Black main character in Nora’s books that I’ve seen (and no, I don’t count Crack from “In Death”because he was more of a background character… never mind about King🤡😭).
Blair was my favorite once she finally showed up—total badass.

I’d give this 4.5 stars - loved the character development and the storyline was getting goooooood. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
