Alright , first time I read it I didn’t adore it. Second time I found it so funny and easy to read, let’s start that the cat is absolutely crazy

boring, weirdly religious again, at least they didn’t fuck outside on the ground in the dirt. i dont support the troops or this asshat male love interest

Unfortunately 2.5 stars (see what I did there?). Big disclaimer: I didn’t read the first book in this series so the fact that I’m rating lower is probably unfair to the author. However, it is a hill that I will die on: each book in a series of interconnected standalones should…. Stand alone. I did some research and given that the MCs of the first book are different from the MCs in this book, I don’t feel like I should have to be required to have read the first book in the series if it’s different characters and a different plot. That being said, it’d be fine if Julian/Hallie didn’t seem fully fleshed out to me but even the MCs of this book didn’t have motive.

Ultimately, that’s what killed my enjoyment of this book. There was no motivation for anything. We’re dropped into the middle of Natalie and August’s story. I would’ve loved to read about some of their butting heads in the winery world. Instead, we start with August already being halfway in love with her. I was entirely reading this at face value because it felt like all the back story, had already happened. Which again, partly on me for starting with book 2.

Other than that, the spice was not my favorite. Dirty talk is hard to write and August’s was not done well imo. Add in that he actually referred to Natalie’s vagina as “that thing” multiple times and I don’t see how she let him within 10 feet of her.

All that being said, the book was a quick read and easy/light to get through for the most part. I didn’t dislike it per se, but the writing definitely got in the way of me liking it.
