Lost my original review because I accidentally deleted this from my Goodreads Books like I wish I could delete it from my mind.

Totally skimmed and skipped parts to get this book finished. Just stick to the movie.

I hate to say it, but I was very disappointed in this read. I was so looking forward to seeing this unique take on Disney's Aladdin, yet I didn't like most of the liberties that were taken with the story. I didn't expect it to be the same as the movie - no, I went into this looking for a new version of the story. It's just that I didn't enjoy this specific take on the tale.

I really enjoyed this.  You can tell it was written by a women with the women's perspective of all these Disney princess stories in mind.  As Jasmine put it she is not a prize be wom and this alternative ending novel does not even get to that part that was in the movie.  It is all about the struggle of the dark magic and the teamwork required to take on Jafar.  There are moments where justice and values are weighed and considered.  I absolutely love the "girl boss" role that both Jasmine and Morgiana took on in this narrative.   This is less G and more PG-13 as well which brings it into a muchore realistic realm.  I will definitely be reading more of the Twisted Tales series

Giving 4 stars to be generous, but my actual rating is closer to a 3.5. I really enjoyed this book in some chapter, where in other chapters I felt like there were holes I was only able to fill in by being so familiar with the Disney movie itself. I liked it enough to continue reading other books in the series!
