Original review 2014:

We’re all- inclusive in Homicide, ’cause whatever your race, color, or creed, you can get dead.”
"We should write that up under a Merry Christmas sign.”

It's hard to imagine that this is book #39, with countless additional stories, also, and the author shows no sign of ending. That's a good thing, and a bad thing. I'll admit that the murder in this book was too similar to many others, with a ho hum investigation. I still enjoyed it, but maybe I was looking for more.
Of course, I'll still read book #40 when it comes out :-)

Updated review 2022:

Oh goddess…Trina calls Eve at two a.m. and reports the dead body. LOL

”Maybe I should get a personal trainer,” Peabody speculated. “If I had someone like that hammering at me, I’d have a perfect heart-shaped, drum-tight ass in no time.”
“You’d blast her with your stunner before the end of the first session.”

Eve and her utter dislike of holiday shopping knows no bounds. Now she’s going back to Tiko, the kid whose got the stand on the street corner!

Merry Christmas.
But it got her thinking, made her curse and check the time. If she only had two days, and today was practically over, when the hell was she supposed to buy stuff for people the rules somehow dictated she had to buy stuff for?
She headed uptown, took a detour. It was a little late in the day, but there was a chance she’d find a source who could wrap it all up for her—or at least some of it—quick and easy.
She drove by first, spotted the kid on his corner, manning his stall, then dealt with the insanity of parking. She had to hoof it two blocks, through the raging sea of tourists, of shoppers, of semi-sane New Yorkers just trying to get the hell home after the workday.
She studied the stall as she approached. Scarves, capes, socks, gloves, mittens, caps, hats—the kid had expanded since their last encounter.

Her horror over all the people she has to buy for and then Roarke does this

Me fascina cómo lleva tantos personajes secundarios y lo mucho que ha evolucionado Eve. De Roarke mejor no hablar.

Another great addition. I love when the books include more personal bits about Eve. I loved the shopping/gift giving.
