I can’t even write a coherent review of this book right after finishing it because it frustrated me so much. All I know is that I hated every everyone, and the book itself, by the time I got to the last page.

Also, finding out Julia was the one conducting all of this wasn’t a surprise or a twist. I didn’t feel the shock of it because I was so numb by the stupidity of the characters. Just an extra note scribbled in the last few pages.

TJR can definitely write a book. There was so much I enjoyed about this book; the writing was incredible and it held my interest the entire time. But, it didn't give me that 5 star feeling and I think that's down to the themes not being for me.

Finally moved this from my TBR to my “Read-It” shelf! And WOW! I loved the podcast-documentary format of this novel. Taylor Jenkins Reid weaves magic with her words: I truly felt like this was a book of nonfiction, a story about a real band and their journey. Every character pops off the page. And, with a full-cast narration including Jennifer Beals, Judy Greer, Benjamin Bratt, and Julia Whelan, the audiobook was a dynamic way to experience the story. I find myself extra eager to now watch the TV adaptation!

i’m in awe of what i just read. i only wish the ending could have been elongated and it all didn’t happen so quickly. everything else was incredible and so emotional.
