Given that this is one of those books English-speaking people wrote when they were still trying to figure out what this 'novel' form was, it's pretty good.
Still, it's pretty evident they had a lot to figure out. Show, don't tell. Get to the point of attack sometime before halfway through the book. Make sure there's at least one vampire in the story. Stuff like that.
As always, Elizabeth Klett's narration of the librivox version is excellent, and wants nothing that a professionally read version has.
