I read this story third during my read through the Forward collection.
This…wasn’t great. The characters felt kind of like cardboard cutouts of the standard Sci-Fi movie characters but with a pride flag and a pink bow slapped on their heads. I’m always ecstatic to see queer women MCs and secondary characters but in this case…they just didn’t feel authentic or well fleshed out to me.
As for the plot, its been done to death and doesn’t really offer anything new to the genre. It just felt like a rehash which got pretty boring.
I only hope that this isn’t indicative of Crouch’s writing as a whole, as I already have Pines in my kindle library and I’m intending on reading that next.

It’s a Sci-fi that felt like an episode of Black Mirror but It reminded me of a darker version of the Robin Williams movie “Bicentennial Man”.
Loved every minute of that audiobook.

Way too similar to Ex Machina but I enjoyed it anyway. But them I'm also a sucker for soft sci-fi with human and romantic elements, so.

A story on making an AI in our image
I liked how this book approached a possible relationship scenario of humans with AI. The writing was clever, and though and emotion provoking.
I recommend this read and the entire Forward Collection to those who love speculative science fiction revolving around new technology that tackle our personal relationship with it.
I gave this story a 5/5 star rating because the story was hard to put down, there was evenly distributed suspense in the story and the end was not that predictable and with an interesting message about our human nature.
