I didn't exactly knew what kind of book I was about to start when I picked up this book. Although the story was well written and I liked reading the book, it was not a book for me I think.

The book is very fast paced in my opinion. Eventhough the pace, it was lovely to read how relationships grew stronger and some relationships grew more apart. It made you emphasise with the charachters.

If you like a mystery book while reading about a character finding herself, this is a book for you. But don't expect one big romantic story or a heavy thriller book because, that is not this book.

Evan Bright has been in private boarding schools since her grandmother died when she was 11 due to her mother's poor mental health and the fact that her father is the King of England and no one seems to know that she exists. She longs to be home with her mom, but when her privacy becomes a concern, it's clear that she needs to be protected and closer to her father. The biggest problem is that she's never spent any time with the man and feels fully neglected by him. In the vein of The Princess Diaries and Tokyo Ever After, but it just doesn't totally hit the mark for me. However, I'm really looking forward to the second book. I think the series has a lot of promise.

this is such an interesting mix of themes, especially for a royal/ princess sort of book, they often focus only on the media attention and the ascension aspects of being a royal, but this book included much more deep topics and the relationships between the different characters were way more nuanced than i was expecting
