I thought this would be insightful, cute, and steamy like Hoang's other novels - and it was, but it was also the hardest hitting book I've read this year.

Spoiler

Anna having to suddenly become a caregiver for her ill father and experiencing caregiver burnout is a huge theme in the back half of this book. My own father had a stroke six months ago and while he is able to mostly care for himself, I found myself thrust into a role I hadn't prepared for. This book cared so lovingly for Anna even when she couldn't care for herself.

I understand the critic that this felt more like womens fic than romance but I still enjoyed it!!

Michael and Stella are still my faves tho

This book brought out way too many emotions, in the best way possible.

Felt like a breath of fresh air after the bride test omfg, the emotion in this book is greatly written and makes you want to sob like a baby. The end did feel rushed and kind of made the book unsatisfying.
