One of the most devastating books I’ve read. I think it’s one of those books that should be read by everyone, a classic, view changer... That said, I don’t give it 5 stars because of the authors relationship with the USA/Bush and how he portrays the end of the Afghanistan war in the book. It’s nice to read about the writers country’s struggles, wars and trauma, and about their survivor’s guilt for being a migraint in America. Until he becomes another follower of US imperialism.

Still, an amazing book. Will start now A thousand splendid suns. Let’s see if I have any tears left in me.

highlight here for me is that the characters were amazingly developed and i've heard people say amir is insufferable but i honestly think he's realistic and flawed. he's supposed to be insufferable and frustrating. and also i really love hassan
the only things id dock a star off this for is the fact that it does kinda read like it's written for a Western audience (explaining literally every single cultural thing brought up in the movie. people r capable of looking things up on their own if they're curious). the end also became a bit usa propaganda-y for my liking. def clear who the intended audience was here
i still prefer a thousand splendid suns but this is a great book that i will never read again god bless

Well-written. Not sure I agree with the message.
