So much promise! Some really great hooks and themes were introduced and immediately dropped. For instance, a society deemed one person pure evil, and decided to produce clones of that person to torture forever. The plot sets up perfectly to explore this, only to just ignore it from then forward. Our gang discovers what might be a new or another sentient intelligence, but this too is treated simply rather than in any depth. I do give this book props for not being pollyanna-ish and following through on some depressing dystopian themes. I still love the Pacifists and the Glassmakers and Stevland. The Earthlings are kind of flat. Even Karola, who starts out so very cool, turns out to exist only so she can use a special talent late in the book. I can't even remember any other Earthling names besides Pollux, and then only because he was such a dick. The climax was meh, and I don't even know why it happened.

I didn’t like it as much as the first book, but it was still interesting. Sort of unsatisfying to learn about new sentient life but not get much insight into them. Thought this was a duology, but the end certainly leaves it open for another book. There’s a lot more to learn in this world. Especially about Earth. I felt a certain way about the chapters narrated by non-human species, same as I did in the first book, like the perspective felt too familiar, human. The interaction between the Earthlings and the Pacifists is where all the meat is, an interesting reflection on human behavior and how that might translate in a foreign environment. The future tech and its failure was an interesting piece too.

Was not nearly as good as the first. Didn't care for the Earth people who showed up and felt like the story took a turn.

Interference was entertaining, if not as groundbreaking or enthralling as Semiosis. A really enjoyable read.

Following the struggles encountered by the human colonization of Pax in Semiosis, the Pacifists deal with a new struggle: humans from Earth have arrived to explore Pax and see how the mission is going. Not only are the Pacifists surprised to find out that Earth has not been destroyed but they have to be careful not to be torn apart by differences in opinions about their visitors.

I loved this. I loved the first book too. My biggest regret was waiting so long between book 1 and 2 and that made getting into this one a little tough. I think this duology is fascinating and I would 100% not be upset if the author decided to expand this series beyond two books.
