I want to preface this review by saying how much I love April Henry. She was one of the first thriller authors I read (when I was in middle school), so maybe I went into this book with my expectations a little too high. However, the beginning of the book lived up to them. The mid-way twist was ridiculous, sure, but really fun, and I loved the isolated hotel setting.
What ruined this book for me, though, was the ending. The "climax" was basically just an exposition dump, with the killer literally monologuing for pages on end about his motive. Also, on top of all of that, the killer reveal was disappointing.
If you're going to read an April Henry book (you should), this is definitely not the one to pick.

Less murder than I was expecting but a very accurate description of high school theater kids LOL. Fun and quick read, great to start the new year :)
Alright so
Two Truths and a Lie was definetly not what I expected it to be. That said, it definitely isn't bad. The only things that bugged me, so to speak, were:
) It is very dialogue-driven, which is a thing I'm not used to, and can sometimes be confusing to me
) The reveal didn't make me feel any specific type of way if I'm being honest. It could've been Stuart, as well as Edgar, but me being me I always hope for a bit more mystery and clue discovery
) IT SPOILED 'And Then There Were None' FOR ME. I bought the book, being a huge Agatha Christie fan. I've wanted to read it for like a year, but always picked up different Agatha Christie books for who knows what reason. AND NOW LOOK. I am still gonna read 'And Then There Were None', I'm just a little bit sad now
My overall thoughts are the following:
) I like the romance between Nell and Adam, I think it's cute and makes sense
) I will forever stan Mrs. McElroy i just will you can't stop me
) Do I recommend this? I would say yes. It's fast paced, and you can easily finish it in a day or two, enjoyable and with a plot twist that's satisfying enough

I wanted to like this much more than I actually did. The premise wasn't bad. I did figure out the killer pretty early on, although there were zero clues until much later, and our protagonists couldn't figure it out even when said clues were literally in her face. I didn't particularly like or care about any of the characters.

This book was so good!! I love how April Henry used the idea of playing the ‘two truths and a lie’ game to start off the thriller! It was very well written, because I could NOT put this book down! Chapters are small but they each end in a cliffhanger which just makes you want to read more and more!
I love the way the characters are set up and I love the slow relationships that form between them. This was an outstanding book! ❤️
