This book was fine. I am clearly not the target audience for a YA thriller but the idea of theater kids trapped in a motel was intriguing.
I did assume Maeve wasn't really dead but I didn't guess that the "robotics" kids were really more theater kids.
Stuart being the bad guy was a fine ending, especially him just like enjoying killing people. I do wonder - did I miss the revelation that he put the slip of paper in? Or was that the other group?
I did find the theater references and overexplaining of terms annoying. But again, I'm a theater adult who doesn't need to be told what "stage right" means.
But it was a fine and quick read.

I may have called the twists early on, but I still had a fun time reading this. Looking forward to reading more from April Henry.
Also, not the greatest disability rep, but also I’ve read so much worse.
Just wish Knox had gotten a comeuppance bc that kid is EVIL.

This book by no means reinvents the wheel but it was quite fun! If you like Agatha Christie style murder mysteries then look no further!

This book was definitely in the YA genre. I think it was perfect for that age range, but as someone who loves horror and thrillers, it wasn’t as suspenseful as I hoped it would be. There were definitely a lot of twists that I wasn’t expecting, but the writing was very simple. It made for a fast read.

Ooooooooo…..I really really liked this one. It was different from the get-go for Henry, in that it wasn’t taking place in Oregon and it featured lots of people. Neither of those things is bad, though. Just different. In fact, shaking it up in those ways made me read even more voraciously.
So, I figured it out earlier than I usually do with a Henry read, too, so I am feeling very smug right now. Also, I loved the theatre kids aspect and the perfection of Mrs. McElroy (was that her name???), the drama teacher. Finally, as always, a gigantic round of applause on paper for the stunning details of every stinking thing! Research matters, folks, and April Henry could/probably should teach a master class!!!
