old school american thriller. nothing exciting. what disappointed me more is the way it’s written. the writing style had no rigor. it took me 3 days to read such an easy short book, because of how predictable the story was and how uninteresting i found the prose.

Bloch’s Psycho is a relentless, short novel full of thrills and twists. I read this last year, knowing the twist, and it still surprised me. I read it this year, and again the twist was just as poignant as the first time. If you’re looking for a quick, heart-pounding read that never ceases to entertain, you’ve found your novel.

4.5 stars

Usually when a movie is based off of a book, but you don't know it was based off a book, it is because the book really isn't that great. Why doesn't anyone talk about Robert Bloch's Psycho!? It was really great! I love Alfred Hitchcock's adaption and have for years. My entire family are all Hitchcock fans. But I never knew this was a book first!

This was written really well. Although I've seen the movie about 100 times, it was still a very enjoyable read. There are also a few things that are not in the movie, and it was interesting to see another side of Norman Bates. The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is that there are a couple cheesy lines, but they come from one character for the most part, so I'm not entirely convinced it wasn't on purpose. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys thrillers whether they have seen the movie or not.

Really enjoyed the audiobook with reader William Hootkins!

This was a great book, very similar to the famous Hitchcock movie. One of the differences I enjoyed is in the book we are treated to Norman's twisted thoughts as some of the book is written from his point of view. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who loved the movie, Psycho.
