I'm a huge fan of the Psycho films, the last time I watched Hitchcock's version was last week, so I thought that I would not enjoy the book very much, as I already knew the story and the twists very well. However, I was surprised by how much of a page turner it is, it's a short book with many events, which keeps you interested and eager to see what happens next (even if you already know!). The film is very true to the book but the book is darker and more graphic (especially the famous shower scene....), making it a very different experience and I definitely recommend the book to anyone who knows and loves this story as much as I do.

A far repressed version of what Ed Gein really did.

3,25 una storia horror che è diventata un cult, anche se non sono riuscita a godermela appieno dato che già conoscevo il twist finale.
Ho trovato un po' strano il linguaggio usato, ma per essere stato scritto nel 1959 ci sta, niente da dire.

I recommend to anyone who likes the movie - it’s interesting to compare. I always enjoy being able to get the characters narrative and thoughts that aren’t always able to be captured on screen… Especially Norman and Lila’s thoughts and motivations in this story.
I much prefer the Hitchcock film (as well as the EXCELLENT Bates Motel series, go watch it if you've not seen it), but the original Psycho novel is a must-read if you're a fan. It unfortunately doesn't carry as much weight if you know how it ends, but it still makes for a good read and really dives into Norman Bates' conscience.
