I think so far in the series this is my least favourite of the books. I loved all the other ones but I felt like there was a hundred page lag in the middle where it could have been sped up. I also felt like the flashes to Manon and sometimes Choal were unnecessary with very little new information being added to the story or character development. I definitely do not think this was a bad book but I do think it was a weaker one in the series. I also would like to note that I think this was an important book for the character development of celena and will serve as a foundation for her future personality moving forwards.

This was my second time reading through. I think this might be my favorite book in the series. Maybe the next one. While I loved it all, I really was just waiting for Aelin chapters whenever it wasn’t focused on her.

I loved this installment in the ToG series! I would say this was where I really started appreciating the characters and their struggles, as well as an introduction to the ominous enemies and their dark plots looming over the characters heads. This book mostly focuses on Celaena
aka Aelin
and her journey to accept herself and those around her, especially Rowan. There was a lot of plot unpacking in this book, but Sarah J Maas revealed the necessary details with perfection and paired it with sly and witty humor when there was very much a need for comedic relief!

You'll love this book if you love a good training montage - which is basically the focus of the book. I wasn't sure how I would ever come around to the love story in this book, but somehow SJM got me!

⚠️ This review contains spoilers (kinda) ⚠️

Oh... where to start? I know! I’m still a Dorian simp 🛐🛐

Heir of Fire is a lot of things and, if I may be honest, a disappointment is one of those. After reading Crown of Midnight, one can only expect that everything will go up like the stonks meme. Alas, this wasn’t the case for this book. From boring chapters of a witch called Manon (I don’t hate them, it’s just that I’m absurdly interested in the main story and you all of the sudden give me this chapter of something I don’t understand and bored me to death) to an unrequested —and frankly quite unnecessary— death, Heir of Fire is your story if you’re looking to get bored for around 200-ish pages out of almost 600.

Nevertheless, this was the introduction to our beloved and cherished Rowan and the mighty queen Aelin Galathynius so I can’t complain that much. From a character development point of view, Heir of Fire is an amazing book. Now, from a plot perspective, Heir of Fire only disappoints as we only have one, small, ten pages scene that gives us this disappointing excuse of a “plot twist” that you could see since the introduction of the dearly loved aunt.

Anyways! All bad aside, the king of Adarlan isn’t prepared for the hell that will start as soon as Celaena gets to his ostentatious glass castle.
