Very worth getting through the second book to enjoy this one! The threads weave together wonderfully in this world as the history and current machinations come together. We (finally) get a lot of character development from our favs, and a lot less annoyingly clunky exposition from a ghost queen and a door knocker from Queens. Rowan is obviously the high point. In a genre littered with hot/brooding/grumpy teachers paired with tiny/mouthy/stubborn women training their wild power, Rowan and Aelin’s growing relationship strikes a great balance. There’s tension, but more importantly there’s trust. I really appreciated that this book dialed down the romance a bit.
