Don't Let Go

Harlan Coben

3.8 AVERAGE

Hmm not much to say here. I adore Harlan Coben. He really can write a kick-ass thriller. But Don't Let Go compared to his other novels didn't hold up. This was more police procedural than anything else, which can be incredibly boring for me.

Nap is a police officer who is trying to prove his twin brothers suicide was murder. His brother, Leo, was found on train tracks with his girlfriend in an apparent suicide/accidental death when they were teens. Now 15 years later more unusual deaths & dissaperances are occurring to people who were close to Leo and his girlfriend. Nap knows this is no coincidence. But what exactly happened to his brother and his friends 15 years ago? Why are more people dying 15 years later? That's what Nap is determined to find out.

Don't get me wrong the story is decent and I didn't exactly see the twist coming which was wrapped up in just a few paragraphs in the last chapter. This one just wasn't for me.

Starts off so very strong but falls apart by the cheesy and implausible ending

Read it in one sitting, even if the end was a bit predictable. I really liked Nap.

This was a fast read with plenty of twists and turns. I had inklings about people and the direction the story would go -- but it never turned out quite how I expected, which I like. I hope Nap comes back because I enjoy his character. He's a bit quirky and unpredictable but at the same time, he's steady.

Not quite 4 stars for me but gave it with benefit of doubt. He remains one of my favourite authors but wished he would go back to doing Myron and Win series more. This is a stand alone one and the mystery was interesting but couldn’t quite gelled with characters and the wittiness didn’t quite come through.

slow burner but wow! this was such a page turner and exactly what i needed for my book slump.. v well done
