A great re-read. Characters are great. Story is solid. Nice mystery to unravel.

Such an interesting series! This is a great book for grade school children who are into fantasy. There is some mild violence, but otherwise it is a good read for kids. There are some hidden lessons that are important for character building as well.

this series has so many problems. i did not notice anything back when i first read it but now i have. i don't like writing negative reviews, i really don't, but i think that i must.
so here are some of the problems:
— forgiving abusers that do not deserve it;
— Starflight having a crush on Sunny despite their sibling-like upbringing (book 4);
— the rainwing hatred is basically dragon discrimination/racism and i don't think it's explored in an appropriate for a children's book way - turns out the "lazy rainwings" really are lazy, goofy and absolutely worthless! this doesn't seem like the right lesson. not to mention the inhumane experiments some of them went through in book 5, only then to give the scientist a second chance?!;
— Glory and Deathbringer's relationship (book 3) rubs me the wrong way. falling for the person who tried to kill you? ive also heard that he's supposedly super old;
— the "good" queen having lighter scales, the "bad" one having darker. they are dragons, sure, but it's so close to real life;
— Glory and Sunny being treated like items to display, most dragons commenting on Sunny's appearance, her even introducing herself as "weird looking". i would never introduce myself this way, my "weirdness" is completely normal to me;
— also heard that Sunny, the character who is most forgiving towards their guardians, is the only one to get loving parents. what is this, a reward? the forgiveness in general is so wrong considering the way Glory was treated. all of them for that matter...
not that problematic but the usage of "he or she" felt so unnecessary, as if im reading an online post. it is not at all difficult to use they.

It’s a verrry fast book there is a bit of death you fall in love with some and hate others at the beginning you can’t tell what dragon is who but for this one I suggest reading 100 pages before saying it’s not for you
Moderate: Animal cruelty, Animal death, and Blood
