The book is a bit slow, but certainly interesting enough to keep reading. If you’re not into inflicted pain or historic torture methods, I don’t recommend this. The characters will keep you invested and either loving or hating them.

Read this with my class of seniors and my GOD was I enraptured by this book. Such a heart wrenching tale about the injustice of the Justice system and the finality and cruelty of death. Paul’s narration does an amazing job of pulling you through, giving you pieces of the puzzle but not letting them fit until the last possible second. This is my first King novel, and I never would’ve picked up one of his works otherwise had it not been for my student teaching placement.

Having never seen the film or read the book prior I didn’t know what to expect. But my god it was so good! I’m so glad I read it before deciding the watch the film. This might just be my favourite King book
