Really enjoyed this King novel. The story was sad and compelling. John Coffey’s character couldn’t have been anything more than a gentle giant, but it showed he was progressively getting exhausted with trying to defend himself to others, and alas, he couldn’t kill anyone else with his kindness….His presence truly made an impact on so many people he came in contact with. King really set the scene with this novel, I felt every pain injustice he wrote. I also really enjoyed the religion aspect of this!!

So... sad... and good! I liked it a lot. Paul is a lovely character and John is just... agh!! It's really unfair.

4.5 for me!
I was excited to read this bc I know the movie is well-received but I've never seen it and didn't know anything about it. I wouldn't consider this a horror novel by any means and I was almost surprised it was a Stephen King. But I really enjoyed the novel structure and thought it was interesting how it was published in 6 parts. It was really gripping and I liked the characters a lot, more than I do in King novels sometimes (said respectfully). I expected it to feel more dense than it was but I actually thought the pacing was great for the story and I just really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to watching the movie really soon!

This book deserves more than 5 stars! A BILLION STARS! That was amazing! It was heart wrenching, but beautiful.

The Green Mile shows that humans are the real monsters, because they don't stop to see the real story, they just assume they're right. John Coffey may have been dumb, but he didn't deserve to be put in E block.

Del may have been a murderer, but even he didn't deserve the death he got. That was cruel of Percy to do, and I almost cried because of it!

Don't even get me started on Percy, because he made me so angry! What a heartless man! Just because someone laughs at you doesn't mean you give them the worst most painful death ever! That's uncalled for!

But, Steven King, you rock man! Great job!

Great writing, as always. I saw the movie first, there are definitely changes but the movie is very faithful to the book. Every time I read a new Stephen King book, it becomes my favorite book by him. This is not the exemption. I think The Green Mile is my favorite Stephen King novel now.

I've been having an off-and-on relationship with Stephen King's works. I've yet to give a single one a 5 star, but I keep trying them. This was one of the better ones that I've read.
