WOW. Wow, wow, wow. This was such an superb sequel. It did take me a bit to get fully into, but I think it's a slow burn kind of book - at least for me - and that didn't make it any less enjoyable. It is a damning indictment on the way we allow technology to control our lives more and more, and how we all have blindspots where attention and being liked or admired is considered. And it was also a story of hope, of how through connection and community, we can avoid destroying humanity. So good. So, so good.

i don't really have any comprehensive thoughts on this book at the moment—i just know that i love it and that i love hank green and that i especially love hank green's utter love of humanity and what makes us humans. it was a deeply loving book and i'm going to miss this duology a lot.

There were parts of this book that I didn’t find particularly engaging, but the themes were fascinating. I deeply enjoyed the topics that Green raised in the book, especially observations about what motivates people and how that affects how our society works. I appreciate the way Green makes his characters flawed, and how that isn’t always resolved in the ways that we want.
