This book was so freaking good it hit all the marks I laughed I cringed (in a good way) I swooned I even almost cried I loved this so so so much. This book does "Enemies to Lovers" and fake dating so well in a combined story of young love and finding yourself after high school. We got to follow Jessie and Benjamin as they end high school and spend a summer finding love from the silly deal made on graduation day.
This is just the cutest story!
It's the end of the high school. For Jess that means working, trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life and hanging with her brother, who is coming home from college for a month. He is also bringing a friend that she has the biggest crush on. But the problem is, that she can barely talk to a guy, let alone do anything else.
She needs someone to practice on and the perfect guy, for no strings attached, just lost of naked time is Ben. Ben and Jess are the only single ones in their friend group ( well Ben has a lot of girlfriends, just not for a long time), but they can't even be considered friends. They constantly argue and pick on each other. She is sure that she can separate the physical and emotional. The more time they spend together, she gets to know a whole other Ben, who is kind of nerdy and doesn't have the best family and starts to fall for him.
But her brother's friend is coming and they had a deal...
An enemies with benefits to lovers ya contemporary romance that made me smile and feel all of the feels...

A fun and lovely story. With two head strong characters, the story follows them when they try to find their own way in life. This story was a super fun ride till the end. Kept you wanting to read more and more.
This was a quick and very cute summer read. I enjoyed seeing a main character who was middle class and not on her way to college after graduation - a welcome different perspective.
4.5 ⭐️
Ahhhh, I love Ben and Jess. They're so sweet.
This book is very mature for being about 2 recently graduated high school students. It has a very positive view of sex and I liked that it was realistic in its portrayal of how young people date now. I also like that the author made sure to include consent in their agreement.
Plotwise, it kept me engaged the whole time. From the benefits stage to the fake dating, the characters kept the same flirty banter through it all, and you could feel their connection change. They're very well suited, and I'm glad we got to see a whole summer of development for that relationship.
I did dock .5 ⭐️ because it felt rude to ben that the second she realised Andrew wasn't happening, she started messaging him. But to be fair, it was very clear that she knew she had feelings for Ben before that and was too scared to tell him in case he felt differently.
Overall, I really enjoyed the book and will be looking forward to checking out the authors future work.
I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, Lydia Sharp, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Right off the bat: This book surprised me by making me cry. I NEVER cry because of books. It’s about two seniors having a friends with benefits moment which later leads to an accidental fake dating trope. It all takes place during the summer before everyone leaves for college and despite having a lot of sex scenes, it’s pretty much all closed door romance. I loved Benjamin & Jessica’s chemistry as well as the very real coming of age atmosphere that lightly coats the story. Happy plus is that Ben is part Venezuelan (I’m part Venezuelan) so that was cool. The author didn’t turn his identity into something “exotic” for the sake of attraction. It’s fun, emotional & awkward.
