This is super camp in a good way. Perhaps the most diverse queer sports comic I've ever read, and that's pretty cool.

This book combines a queer softball romance with magical girl elements. It's full of messy ex drama between Monsoon and Astra and then add in Wolfgang for even more drama. Ultimately, the messy feelings get in the way of the game and the background characters get stuck trying to play a sport with 3 people that won't focus on the actual game.

The jokes and puns can be a bit crass (aside from 1 really tired U-Haul joke), but it was pretty fun. There's some spice in it, so it's def meant for an older audience.

I read Grand Slam Romance for a book club. This was my first romance graphic novel, but not my first graphic novel. I didn’t think it would be fair to give it a rating, because I’m not the targeted audience, but leaving a general review seems okay. It was fun. The art was great! I have to like the art in order to like a graphic novel or comic. The story could be lacking, but if the art is good I’ll keep reading. I don’t think I entirely understand magic girls. I think the story would have still been good without that element, but I could be missing something. I was hoping to get more flashbacks to understand why the characters acted the way they did. I felt like the MC’s were just mean to each other for reasons that were lacking explanation. I get this is likely part of a series since it’s volume 1 and I hope there is more character development in the upcoming books.

A couple of funny one-liners and other lines that felt good to read (accountability, lost time)

This was really interesting but I couldn't relate to a lot of it. Seemed like I just didn't get a lot of stuff and I'm not sure if that's because I needed base level knowledge or there were just some holes in the story.

This was a fun read. I didn’t really like the main characters though. I liked the side characters a lot more. I also was not rooting for the main couple. I wish Mickey ended up with their catcher instead. I didn’t really like Mickey but I feel like they improved throughout the book, but Astra did not :/
I did really like how every character was obnoxiously gay, it was really fun to see and read about. It was a quick read and I would recommend it if you like silly quick gay reads, but the main couple kind of sucks so you just need to overlook that.
