Jenner (insert sigh and googly eyes) he is perfection in my eyes. From the start I knew that this man was going to be my favorite. That also goes without saying that Evie herself also holds a special place in my heart. From the beginning the heartache that they both endured in starting their family to how supportive Jenner was and his words of encouragement did not go without notice. I think that with the hardship they were dealt from the moment they started working on having kids played a big toll on their mental capacities as well as their coping mechanisms. I sympathized with both Evie and Jenner. The process of conceiving was hard on both and ultimately was what led to the demise. With anything in a relationship communication plays a big part. Jenner is done with seeing Evie upset and can no longer take the pain that this is causing and Evie is hurt. She leaves him and ultimately files for divorce. This story picks up four years later. Jenner is now the captain of the Indianapolis Speed Hockey team and Evie is back to try to adopt a child. Only one problem: she lied in the adoption paperwork and said she was still married to Jenner. He agrees to help her with this process but in hopes that they can rekindle their relationship. I love how the story gives you flashbacks on how they met in college and the beginning of the relationship. It also goes without saying how strong friendships they have and how important everyone from Dakota, Bristol, Tessa and Maddox are. They both grow through a roller coaster of emotions but one quote that just resonated with me is: “You can’t judge her for doing what she did because she was out of her mind with grief. She was watching this beautiful dream she had for our future slipping away, powerless to stop it, and then I came in out of left field after being the most supportive husband on the planet and told her I was done. We lost four long years, and I refuse to lose another second with the woman I love.”
First Review of 2025
This book was one I had been gearing up to read. I struggled in some of the same ways as the MFC. I loved the story line and the way that it developed. I loved all the emotions that unfolded from the beginning to end. The ups and the downs. The happiness, anxiety, sadness, fear and most of all love. The characters were perfect and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about them. This was such a wonderful read. Kicking off my first read of 2025 with 5 stars makes me happy!

Oh my god!!! The twists and turns of this book are amazing and crazy! One minute I was loving everything the next my heart was ripped out! Siena Trap keep doing what you are doing because this book is AMAZING!! Absolutely loved it!

Okay I was not expecting to like this as much as I did- I normally don’t love the second chance romance stories but this one was so heart breaking and healing that made it amazing! Loved it .
