Obviously this isn't as good as Waid's Daredevil, but the art is wonderful and I like Blindspot and it has Steve Rogers.

Fine. Not remarkable. There's something a bit by-the-numbers about this all, but it's nevertheless in very sturdy hands.

And Blindspot's pretty neat.

Very cool. As a privileged white straight male i don't really have a problem with heroes being of different ethnicity. I liked the blind spot character, the revelation of his mother was a little weak but we can't have Darth Vader in every work of art.
The epilogue as origin story was well done; showing similarities to past heroes and the need for new heroes. a very hardworking smart kid who wants to fight for his neighborhood- sounds similar to DD/spider man. But a bit more relatable for immigrants as opposed to a persons with disabilities/nerds. I enjoy the “street level” heroes for making fun of batman/iron man- “maybe they are all billionaires” that shows up.
Following the netflix show i think it makes sense he is working for the DA now. Punishing bad guys by day and night; to foil this aspect- the apprentice figure lets him keep some of his humanity by needing to teach restraint- instead of being like the punisher who is always looking to put down the bad guys all the time.
Also loved the “fist” as a big bad of the “hand”. the explanation of “umm... magic, i guess” for its origin was wonderful. It’s a comic; i don't need an explanation for a giant undead ninja. Captain America name-drop was also a great follow up to the netflix series as it kepted up the catholic themes of internal conflict and needing to be in community for Matt.
With new comics and movies coming out i can appreciate how they show thoughts, speech, and either voice or text communication. The trending aspect of blindspots bid for DD’s attention i thought was clever.

Unpopular opinion, I kinda liked this. Whoops.

Full disclosure- I bought the first issue when it originally came out and I was SO confused as to what was going on that I got super irritable and quit.

So, it's kinda better off that you wait until the volumes come out.

Btw, I will fight a motherfucker about Blindspot. Undocumented immigrant donning a super suit to fight crime and help people, undocumented or not, in his neighborhood? Sign me up.

I haven't really decided how I feel about this yet. Maybe I'll read all three and see how I feel.

While I thought the art style fit the series (lots of heavy blacks and reds) I felt a little underwhelmed by it. Somehow, I'd seen a lot of this before and usually, I love it, but it didn't hit the mark with me. But then, I figured, it fits the series so...?

The thing that stuck out to me the most was the fact that the stakes didn't feel like they were high enough. Soule can be a slow to start writer and this just didn't feel tense enough for me. However, Soule is an attorney based in Brooklyn and New York City so the Matt Murdock parts of the graphic novel had lovely details that really added to the whole piece. He was also really sassy and reminded me of the Matt Murdock from the Netflix series, which I love.

I loved Blindspot, Daredevil's new protégé. I won't spoil his character or background because part of the joy of reading the novel is finding out who he is but he is an illegal immigrant living in Chinatown and wants to defend the defenceless.

This feels so... pertinent to America today and I adore the fact that they wrote a character who is fully formed and treated with respect, not just a side character. I want a Blindspot comic all of his own pls. Blindspot is great.

I plan to continue with the series. Soule has a habit of making volume two what volume one should have been.
