This is another book by an author who have parted ways with, as their recent releases have not worked for me, but I've really enjoyed most of the books in this series and it's what got me hooked on this author to begin with, so when I saw they came out with a new one, I caved... and I'm glad I did!
Honestly, this was just a fun, amusing read. Yes the banter is a little (okay, a lot) OTT at times, which I think might have annoyed me more if I hadn't taken such a lot hiatus from their other books, so it didn't feel too much like overload. The concept of this does require some suspension of belief, but I thought the ~twist~ on the swapped lives was definitely interesting and I appreciated the emotional aspect. I also very much appreciated that the love interest, Owen, knows from the start that Jason is pretending to be his twin, as that would have been a big squick for me and something I was worried about going into the book. Jason is oblivious to the point of incredulity. He says a LOT of suggestive stuff, apparently by accident, which would be believable if he immediately after saying shit realized how it sounded, but he never does--annoying but minor.
Big public scene at the end, which I hate, but it *wasn't* technically a feelings declaration, so I'm not too mad about it. I do think this book follows the pattern/formula of a lot of other Sunday books--in terms of dynamics, I'd say it's almost indistinguishable from several other couples of hers, but it just so happens that it's a dynamic that very much works for me, and maybe because of my hiatus, but it didn't bother me at all. IDK, this book definitely hasn't convinced me that I should go back to reading Sunday's books, but I *did* really enjoy it. *shrug* I'm complicated.

"You haven't asked me what my future looks like."
A whisper, "What does your future look like?"
On another yawn, Jason said, "Y'know, I think it looks just like yours."
[4.3] for those about to pick this bad boy up: exorbitant cheese ahead! beware if lactose intolerant
These two are quite the quirky pair! I smiled and laughed at how Jason really no clue had how what he said and did came across to Owen! He was such an innocent and accidental flirt! Owen though supposed to be a grumpy cop was a sweetheart inside for Jason! I read an arc and if you love unlikely pairings with two absolutely adorable guys that will make you laugh and cheer for them you will enjoy this latest book in the series! It is the perfect blend of slow burn, unique chemisty, sweetness and steamy times!

Definitely the funniest book in the series.
Jason took being clueless to a whole new level but was so sweet, especially to Alex.
Owen has the patience of a saint.
I would have liked to see more of what happened after the big reveal though.

DNF at 20%.
This is so highly improbable in every paragraph I can't get into the story.
Add to that the constant innocent innuendo and double meanings we already know from the other books, and I get annoyed.

Obliviously adorkable characters always fill me with a sense of glee, and Jason was truly blind to his frequent innuendos and obvious feelings. His and Owen's romance made me downright cackle with laughter at its ridiculousness, but also swept me up with wonderful feelings and kept me invested in the growth of these characters. I thought it was hilarious how it only took Owen a few minutes to see through Jason's charade, and though he may have looked like a stern cop, he was a total teddy bear inside. I loved the way he was so patient with Jason, even as he forced himself into Owen's life and made a giant mess of all his routines. For such a carefree and spontaneous man, Jason had a lot of emotions buried inside him related to his upbringing. I'm not sure he even realized how hard it was going to be to take Carl's place in Earnest Point, and to see him not only come to terms with that but grow stronger for it was heartwarming.
Owen and Jason's relationship may have gotten off to an unconventional start, but what started as throwaway comments and jumbles of emotions turned into seriously hot chemistry. I think this might be one of the steamiest Anyta Sunday books I've read in a while, and I loved watching Jason fumble his way into understanding his desire to be restrained, pinned down, and taken by a lover. His and Owen's lovemaking always had a playful edge to it, but I can't deny that it made me shiver to see Owen get all toppy and demanding in response to Jason. Add in a series of heartfelt confessions, a dash of friend and family drama, and a romantic, sweep-you-off-your-feet ending, and you've got satisfyingly sweet conclusion that tied up all the loose ends.... except whatever mess Carl got himself into in Wellington.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
