This was a very heavy read, I had to take breaks while reading. But it's a masterpiece, incredibly well written, especially considering this was the author's debut, I'm impressed.

Studied this novel for A Level English Literature. Great coming of age story with some very hard hitting moments, speculating the nature of human brutality and compassion as well as the power of choice and redemption. "There's a way to be good again"

I thought this book was well-written and certainly a compelling, if tragic, story that taught me a little (assuming it was accurate) about a country I know little about - Afghanistan. But I have to admit I'd hoped I'd LOVE it based on the reviews some of my friends have given it, and I can't say I felt that strongly about it.
