So, sexual compatibility equals Happy Ever After? I agree that the unknowable Timur is irresistable (as a type, to me) but the delineation of his character consists of the facts that he's a Ukrainian member of the French Foreign legion and that he mysteriously likes our hero, and only our hero, from the moment he lays eyes on him. He's massive, exotic looking, and monosyllabic.
I finished this book eagerly, dear reader, so feel free to disregard my carping. Just don't expect much depth from this very pleasant fantasy.

You may notice that all these books are "read" on 27 August - that's because I read all 5 of them back to back without sleeping, I enjoyed them so much.

This is the "Timur" one. I got a very good sense of his character, even though his English wasn't that great. As soon as I saw the flat was full of flat packs I knew the new lover was going to assemble them all - and he did! The characters were well done, and the conflict made sense, given who they were. If there are any books in this series, I will be on them like a shot.

Is good!! Those two words capture my feelings about this book. And read it so you can understand what I mean. This is book 5 in the Distance Between Us series and though it can read as a standalone, a few of the secondary characters were introduced in book 4, the [bc:No Distance Left to Run|20433553|No Distance Left to Run (Distance Between Us, #4)|L.A. Witt|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388829607s/20433553.jpg|30510628]. In order to enhance the enjoyment and grasp the depth of book 5, I do strongly urge readers to read book 4 first. So, L.A. Witt and Voinov always "pump up the volume" on the sexiness of their characters. Oooo good golly, the sexy times in this book were hawt. And with Julien and Chris - I was not expecting that bit of smoldering goodness. I loved Timur!! Though he didn't say much, his presence overwhelmed (in a good way!) me. His ability to convey his feelings and thoughts about Marcus without words - and the author's ability to do that just blew me away. There were times I wanted to smack Marcus upside the head. Ugh - but we all know that past relationships screw with our heads as we move forward. But what most moved me about this book was the writing - strong, snarky - treats the readers as intelligent - and the romance. I get the hotness from these authors but I also get the awwwww kind of of romance - and I am a sucker for that. Give me hot mm love, some heartfelt with feels romance and good writing and I am a happy camper. I am not ready to let these guys go!! Will we see more of them? I hope so.

Another mild disappointment. First of all nobody ever describes Marcus. Not what he looks like, not how old he is, not how he carries himself, or what he wears...nada.

Secondly, they spent tons of time having sex, eating and sight seeing and yet never managed a conversation about practically anything. The language barrier will only get you so far. I have friends who speak no English whatsoever that I know more about than these men knew about each other. After a full month together non stop, Marcus still thinks that being a soldier is Timur's dream job. WTF?

Lastly, in this day and age of refugees around the world desperate for new homes, waiting up to two years or more for permission to enter the US (and only a tiny fraction of those who need new countries are allowed in), I was disgusted to see characters in this book blithely discussing ways around US immigration laws for Timur.

This is despite the fact that Marcus has no reason to stay in Seattle himself, only two fairly new friends, a crappy rental apartment and a job he could literally do anywhere in the world. Why is him leaving the US never considered for an instant?

Ok so despite all that, Timur = so very cute.
