The trouble is that this is better than the first one, but I don't want to rate the first one less than 5 stars because I love it. Can this one be 5 plus?
The story is darker in this one. Grittier. The first one was easing you into the universe. The real storytelling starts here.

The second volume is hauntingly good. That’s all I’ll say. A story that starts to build upon the dream realm and the endless but still leaves you craving for answers.

So I did still like this volume, maybe just slightly less than the first one. There's so much nudity and shit where there's absolutely no need, which is just not what I would choose to read. And the "cereal convention" was very disturbing but and interesting plot line. I liked Rose and her brother's storyline the best though!

Gehört ab jetzt definitiv zu meinen Lieblings-Comics, was nicht nur am jeweils [zwar sehr unterschiedlichen, aber immer] wundervollen Zeichenstil liegt.
Es ist keine Geschichte, die man [oder halt... ich] innerhalb einer Stunde verschlingen kann, wie es bei so manchem herkömmlichen Comic der Fall ist.
Mag vielleicht an der ungewohnt grossen Menge an Text liegen, die sich zwischen die Seiten gemogelt hat. Allerdings bezweifle ich das einfach mal, denn ich find die Erklärung irgendwie schöner, dass es schlicht und einfach eine Geschichte ist, die sich die Zeit nimmt, die sie braucht, um korrekt gelesen und somit auch gewertschätzt zu werden.
Und... weil das auch noch erwähnt werden will: Verdammt nochmal ist Morpheus eine coole Socke! D:
Selten hab ich einen Charakter in einem Comic [bzw. Graphic Novel. 'Comic' wird dem Sandmann irgendwie nicht wirklich gerecht, hab ich das Gefühl] gesehen, vor dem ich so viel Respekt hatte. Aus diversen Gründen.
Wenn du wissen willst, was für Gründe das sind, schnapp dir selber ein Exemplar und finds selber raus!

i liked it, but it felt like a side story, i will read the next one soon. looking forward to the netflix version, hopefully they dont screw it up.
Tore through this on the train back home. great story - the serial killer convention was classic goods-omens Neil Gaimon, both satirical and nightmarish. Rose was not the most original of characters but I still cared about her story. The art and concepts for this are just fantastic - when Rose gets a look into all of her housemates' dream worlds, and each looks completely different from the art style to the coloring to the font, and then the walls between the panels start breaking down, there's a great deal of the suspense and momentousness of this story that's built solely through the layout and design, and that's brilliant.
