Crying in H Mart

I absolutely loved this book. It is a beautiful memoir
about the author learning to embrace her culture while grieving the death of her mother. Through her journey she is able to discover her true identity which unlocks a brand new connection to her mother after she passed away.

The writing was amazing, raw, and exceptionally descriptive. It illustrated the beauty of Korean culture through the importance food, family, and friendship.

What a beautiful book about death, family, self discovery, and... Oh heart.

I'm crying in H mart too.
emotional

This is the second time this year I accidentally read a memoir believing it was fiction. I realized my mistake early on.
This book had me in tears almost from the very beginning.
It was beautifully written.

Heartwrenching, honest, real, raw, and so relatable. I loved the focus on food, music, and the small moments of connection. Grief is so many things, and I found myself nodding in understanding or crying because I could relate to so many of the emotions, thoughts, and frustrations. Only a few books have really touched me and my experience of loss and grief. This is one of them.

will write when tears subside
