Extremely intriguing, and quite confusing! I really liked the beginning of the book and felt wrapped up in the suspense. I had my suspicions early on about where the story was going to go. Little hints and tidbits were dropped here and there to keep you guessing and strung along.

I will say that near the end of the story, I felt more lost the more I knew. There were a lot of gaps in the story that left things up for interpretation. I wanted more facts about their past and the present. I was left a little more confused than when I started. What happened in those 20 years apart?

The romance aspect of the story was minimal but the entire story line was based on love and companionship. The ending was sweet and wrapped up the story nicely.

“This is my room, and a prison of my own making.”

All I can say is WOW!!!
This is the first book I have read by this author and I absolutely loved it. I was hooked from the first few pages! I was constantly trying to figure everything out and just when I thought I had, bam, there is another turn! This book will have you guessing everything you thought you knew about these characters!!
Jay is the the poor soul you want to reach out to an hug and make all his pain go away. However, he has a side to him that you will never see coming! Robin is the only person that can help him in to reveal who he truly is and how she needs him just as much as he needs her!

You will not regret reading this!!

While I can't say this is my favorite book, I can say this book was very intriguing and fun to read. I was always left wondering what happens next and continuously trying to connect all the dots. The characters were definitely interesting to read about, and figure out their slew of problems. Being a psychology major, I found this book fun to take apart and really analyze the characters. Overall if your looking for more than usual romance, this is it! There are twists and turns all throughout this book and you are constantly left trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together!

3.5 stars

I'm just gonna start off with i couldn't get on with this book, i don't know if it was me or the characters.
I figured out the plot twist at about 15% so the rest of the book was just letting the characters figure it out.
I like abit more romance in my books so maybe that could be why i wasn't feeling it.

I hate that i don't have many good things to say about a book because i know authors spend days, weeks, months maybe even years writing a book but this book just wasn't for me. Everyone has different tastes and this just wasn't mine unfortunately.
I have to say i enjoyed the last 50% a lot more than the first that's why it went up to 3.5 stars.

It hasn't put me off the authors future or past works though, can't wait to see more from this author.

Dark and twisted indeed. There’s a reason I don’t read a lot of mysteries. Knowing there’s a secret, some missing piece of the puzzle that I’m not yet getting, makes me crazy. It was worth it when I was able to put it all together. It’s clear that there is real love between them, but it’s built on pain and tragedy.

This book was stunning. It was equal parts devastating and heartwarming. It defined unconditional love in a startling way, emphasized the impact that trauma can have on a person, and told a twisted yet beautiful story. It's one of those stories that stays with you, one that you'll still think about hours and days later. It's dark, twisted, wrong in many ways, and sometimes it was disturbing. At the same time it made me pause to think, to really delve into the mind of the MC. There's a large psychological twist to the story, which I caught on to very early on and when it was revealed, I found myself leaping from my seat and shouting "I KNEW IT." throughout the house.

If you want an introduction to dark romance, this is a FABULOUS place to start.

Wow. I think that is the first thing that comes to mind with this book. Winters took such a unique and unusual concept and blew my mind. I was floored when things came to head and found myself just jaw dropped. This is the first book I have read by Winters and I know I will be back for more. I was just blown away.
The emotions and pain going through all the characters really grip you in a way that you cannot put it down. I found myself wrapped up in this world that Winters created and my heart broke at so many points. The emotions alone are raw and unpredictable. The past colliding with them and moving past just makes you go “What did I just read?!?!?!”
Overall, I have to say that this book was utter brilliance. I have never once read a book like this and found myself wrapped up into it so much. I loved the storyline and the character build and those twists that left you breathless. This book is not for the faint at heart though but go in with an open mind because you will not regret it. It is a tale of love, pain, forgiveness and so so much more!

Wow, wow, wow!

Maybe I’m a little late to the party on reading this gem, but hot damn! This book was NOTHING like I expected. I was so thrown off by how things changed up so drastically. Never thought the outcome of such a tragic past would lead to love in the way it did. Very dark and twisted, but oh so enjoyable. Can’t wait for the next book on my TBR from Willow!
