Ayla is a badass. I liked that this one didn't have the omega issue of her being not enough. The dueling story lines with her father's pack and multiple potential mates got to be a bit much and I get why it needed the second book but I don't think I'll read it

First off, I am reading this book against other books in the same genre and as a book written specifically for the internet/story apps by amateur authors.

This is really one of the best I have read as far as stories like this go. It kept me company during a night of insomnia.  This book stands as proof that one dies not need to be a "professional" to tell a well thought out story. I wish it had been checked for typos, but still one of the lesser offenders in that realm.

Was shocked that I liked this as much as I did, especially with the (dubious) cheating. That's a hard line for me, but I stuck with it and not only was the redemption arc great, but we come to find out that he had been drugged into rejecting her, AND that the sister had been wearing an engineered version of her pheromones the whole time he was with her, and that's why he was so drawn to her. As more information comes out, we see that he was in and out of that trance and not himself. And as soon as he realizes the sister lied to him (before they even know about the drugging and pheromones), he is wrecked over his mistake and is completely devoted to the FMC, whether she'll have him back or not.

And don't get me wrong, I was prepared to hate him forever and was actively rooting for the other guy, but the author did a great job twisting all characters involved until my opinion changed multiple times about a few key characters. I really wanted the two fated mates together by the end, and it was sweet seeing them get their temporary ending.

There were a few things that bothered me, but I love character driven stories, and this had the perfect amount of angst, b trayal tenderness, and redemption that I was in the mood for today.

Not sure I have it in me for more drama in the second book, but I might just keep going anyway.
