This book was fantastic! I read it in a matter of days. It was one of those "up late" readers. I'd go to bed thinking I could read just a little bit, but I'd end up forcing myself to go put it down at 2am! It is a mystery, but not your typical Sherlock Holmes type. I like the way Laura writes in past and present. It can be a bit confusing or seem complicated at the beginning, but as you read you'll keep guessing and want to know more. I love how relevant the setting is. I would definitely suggest this to college age readers as this is what age most of the characters are. Good read for anyone though!

I was immediately drawn to this book by the concept. It took a while to sort the different points of view and plot, but once I did I got really into it. I would've liked more insight in the ending as to what really happened, and how it happened. There were many questions left unanswered. I think this was a good book overall.

I think this is closer to 3.5. I couldn't put this one down, and Kasischke perfectly captures the essence of a midwestern college. This is a long book, and I think the book suffers from trying to focus on too many characters. The only fully-rendered characters with depth are Perry and Mira, unfortunately. And I thought the ending did nothing for the rest of the novel--it's rushed and packaged with a tidy bow, despite the fact that no resolution comes from the mystery. That fact wouldn't bother me so much if there'd hadn't been other threads that similarly went nowhere as characters and subplots were introduced and abandoned. I didn't need to have the whole story spelled out for me, but it would have been nice to feel as if the 461-page read meant something more, and had a more realized conclusion.

Really enjoyed how each chapter switched into different stories but they all lined up. And I was truly shook with all the twists & turns by the end!

Niet echt spannend, wel boeiend.
Ik was ruim over de helft toen ik pas echt in het verhaal kwam.
Het boek blijft tot het einde aan toe een beetje geheimzinnig en laat veel aan de verbeelding over.

This book had me hooked from the beginning, and I had a hard time putting it down. That being said, I will admit that the ending was a bit of a letdown for me... I guess every story can't be tied up in a pretty bow at the end just to satisfy me.

Beautiful writing. The story was interesting at certain points, but I kept expecting answers to my questions. They never came. By the end I still wasn't sure what had really happened all along. Perhaps there was a deeper meaning that I didn't understand. Overall, the perspective was interesting. If for no other reason, this one should be read for the beautiful voice and imagery.
