I really liked some of the stories of the characters and the conceptions of their identities in flux, as well as the ebbs and flows that come with friendship connection. The author created a safe space for these stories. I personally would have liked more unpacking of some of the big moments within the stories. And I also found some of the writing a bit trite or obvious at times. My favourite exploration in terms of characters was actually of Won, who was quite a pivotal part of the stories, yet didn't get as much air time. Additionally, I thought the swinging back and forth of stories was an unusual/unnecessary choice. Despite that, it was still great to be immersed in a tender, nuanced and complex portrait of non-anglo experience where so often it is othered or not centred.

are friends where the girlies interact in more than two chapters!
