This book was disturbing and offensive in its cavalier treatment of sexism, racism, ableism, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and, somehow, even though it had nothing to do with the story, the AIDS epidemic. One fairly tame example - the main characters' friends are all constantly shaming her for wearing high heels, makeup, and nice clothes. It goes drastically downhill from there.
