now that’s how you write a high school romance!
this is the first high school romance book that actually got me feeling giddy like a teenager lol. it has just the right amount of the bully trope. nothing too crazy, perfectly suited for high school bullying (not that bullying is ok. it’s never ok to bully people, kids!)
the characters are angsty in an appropriately teenager way, which i really appreciate. it’s not trying too hard. it has sweet and cute moments that balances out how stupid teenage boys are lol i love the balance of sophie and evan’s character. they’re so different but matches each other well. i loved their dynamic. it was sweet at the right moments. this book actually made me happy lol and even though evan is stupid, i still liked his character.
solid 4 stars!
(hoping that the author will write more about these characters post-sixth form )

“Why would you pick some fucking creep, some complete nobody, when you could have me?”
This book is a book where I liked the idea of it, but not so much the execution of it. It felt like a book that I had read before and I think that for the next book in the series it will be better because this was the author’s first book.

this was wildly frustrating at times but it was worth it
i really loved sophie. she could hold a grudge, and while she definitely had her moments of weakness, she really walked evan like a dog. she kept that man on his toes until the last chapter and i ate it up. it was the least he deserved after all he put her through, poor baby just wanted a friend and he went and pissed all over it. but like i said she made him work for it which i loved. she was very feisty and dedicated to her goals. i just really liked her all around.
evan was more complicated. on one hand he was a golden retriever type, very cute, but on the other he was a massive asshole and general idiot. seriously he was so stupid. he was over here getting so butthurt at her rejection like he hasn’t bullied her for years… i really enjoyed everyone calling him out on it- sophie, zach (the only “young king” with a brain, i love him) and even his parents. he eventually realized his ways and apologized, and sophie didn’t make his job easy either. but he got there eventually. all of his frustrations and pining was really satisfying and cute too.
as for them together, they were cute. i would’ve like to see them hook up a little more when they weren’t drunk or angry. i wanted more sweet moments. and the end was pretty rushed, she literally accepts his request to date for the summer and that’s the end. it didn’t feel like a well wrapped up conclusion. there was also a love confession from evan but it was done kinda off page, once again kinda disappointing.
besides that, i did like them as a couple and this book was pretty good aside from it’s need of an editor in some places… i’m really curious about sev and ofc my love zach and theodora

Read about 75% initially, then came back to finish the rest
He’s a bit funny and a bit charming, but my favourite scenes are probably Evan x Zachary

Can’t decide between 3 or 3.5 ⭐️ rating but this was an enjoyable bully romance wish we got an epilogue to their story
