I enjoyed this one overall. I think the magic system needs to be flushed out a bit more. The artwork was amazing and very dark. I’m not in love with the main characters yet. I’m definitely invested in the story and where it goes so I might see how I like the next volume.

It's fine. I don't know, I think if we had spent more time focusing on Ashaf and Guideau's relationship I would have felt more drawn in, but the first chapter has a lot of action instead. I'm always, like, bummed whenever the witches are Actually Evil(TM) and there's just no nuance around it. Maybe there's more nuance later on, but I don't care for it.

My favorite character so far is Ashaf with his soft-talking but professional demeanor . This volume starts off quick and is quickly plunged into sometimes chaotic fight scenes. The second half begins to delve deeper into the story, that’s how I got hooked. The art is nice and grungy at times [ LOVE Ashaf’s gothic look ;) ]
