Dark magic.
Witches.
Political unrest.

I absolutely fell in love with this series. Firstly, let's acknowledge the amazing artwork. My breath catches with each new volume. The art design creates a unique world that you easily delve into, and the character design tells you so much about the personality of each protagonist and antagonist.

The tale follows Guideau, a tempestuous character not living in their own skin, and Ashaf, a mysterious mage with many secrets yet to be told. The duo works as contractors for an independent magical body The Order of Magical Resonance. The core plot centers around a witch hunt that are packed with supernatural action, all while exploring the themes of identity and belonging through well-written tropes.

My new obsession for 2023 is this series, and I devoured all currently released volumes as quickly as I possibly could!

Disjointed and somewhat confusing story of a duo fighting witches. Their motivations and backstory are gradually revealed but (as I expected) many questions remain at the conclusion of this volume.
A lot of wordless panels of what I presume are representations of magic battling. Some gore but because its not in color it wasnt always apparent to me at first glance. (Clearly I am not knowledgeable about the cultural subtleties in the art to get more out of this book.)
The story isn't bad but the cursing is more prevalent than I had expected. Perhaps the next volume will be easier for me to grasp the story arc.

This was such a great manga. I can’t wait to read more and find out what’s going on. Highly recommend if you’re a fan of dark supernatural books.

The witch and the beast is a graphic novel series by Kousuke Satake.

The story follows Ashaf and Guideau on their hunt for a witch who placed a curse long ago. They definitely aren't afraid to go through anyone in their way.

The witch and the beast is a pretty quick graphic novel. It flows well but the story line was kind of flat. The start is on the slower side but it does start to build. However, I found it a little too plain without enough depth for the first in a series.

For the first chunk I was confused as to what was going on. Once I realised the thing with the coffin, it made more sense
