This was cute and fun! I usually cringe when I see like social media references and/or cringey gen z slang, but that didn’t really bother me in this book. I love the fact that he fell first!!!

Sometimes you just need a good, trashy palette cleanser after some hardcore fantasy. The writing? Not great. Plot? Meh. Smut? There and spicy.

Its definitely not the worst book I've read but it containes a lot of tropes that I hate in most books and this is one of them.

First of all they fall in love super quickly, there is like almost no progression of love its just that Scarlett and Abel are suddenly so in love with each other, even though they don't really know each other. Both main characters are extremely flat and dont really have any personality other than their main traits: cooking & romance books and american football & rom coms. Other than that they don't do anything else. Abel doesn't really have any friends (or at least ones that hang out with him), his whole world revolves around Scarlett, but he only likes her because she is pretty and he likes what she writes about herself on her foodblog. And he doesn't really find out more about her (or at least the author doesn't write about it) and any person that has ever posted something about themselves on the internet knows that what you write probably isn't always the whole truth. Because both of them don't really talk about their personalities we also don't which is why I feel like both caracters are extremely shallow.

Secondly Abel is extremely posessive and not in a cute way. He very much manhandles her without her consent and behaves very inappropriately while they were still fake dating, even though she made clear that she doesn't want to have sex with him. It was extremely uncomfortable to read.

Thirdly both the reason for their fake dating and the reason for the dispute between them is extremely pathetic. She doesn't like him because he doesn't talk much and because he threw away the food she made, which she considers rude but doesn't do anything about. She doesn't even consider that there could be other reasons for that behavior and doesn't ask, which is stupid. He is in love with her. What is that conflict? It is just one sided and this shouldn't be a conflict that takes a year to resolve. Then the reason for their fake dating is that Abel's team want the image of being family friendly and that doesn't work when he is single and doesn't sleep around? I know we later discover that the reason was made up but it's still super stupid.

Fourthly he manipulates her into the relationship by giving her his house  therefore fullfilling her lifelong dream of living in her sister's neighborhood. Yeah I think that says it all.
