I really enjoyed this book despite its difficult nature. I felt like he shared his story well. It’s tragic considering how his life ended.

9/28/25: Perry gives us an honest look at his lifelong struggle with addiction and holds nothing back. This is a heartbreaking read knowing how his story ends. He was a great writer and I believe he had more in him to give. I hate that the big terrible thing won.

Tends into a bit a repetitiveness later into the book. Always fascinating to see the other side of public personalities.

I knew I was going to read this no matter the reviews and I am glad I did. While it needed some major editing and organization, it is worth the read to know the man. The Big Terrible Thing is something that I have been deathly afraid of because of my own walks in the darkness. I am proud of Perry for sharing his story. Yes, some jokes fall flat and some things are straight up offensive. But this is raw and real. It is not pretty, the audiobook makes me want to cry because his voice is not the same. This is good material to have in the world, I pray it helps someone else to make good life choices.

I read this book but wanted to listen to it as well. Matthew Perry narrates it. Such a sad man who made so many laugh. I hope you rest now Matthew!
