This author is one of my very favorites, I’ve loved all her previous books.
It pains me to give a bad review.
This one didn’t work for me for many reasons.
Josie seemed so selfish and I felt she mistreated and used Colton. ALWAYS. I don’t understand “their love” or connection. It’s not shown, it’s implied and told.
It seems abusive to me. It was always on her terms and it seemed like a game to her.
Colton was great in the first book, I lost respect for him in this book, I felt he was a doormat for Josie. He didn’t respect himself and I felt he enabled her bad behavior.
**The story had the one big shocker that was very intriguing. I liked that aspect. Best part of the story in my opinion.
From there it just seemed chaotic and random to me.
I wasn’t sucked into the story. I was apathetic.
Then, Josie does something even more selfish (in my opinion) and soon after all is forgiven.
She continues her self centered ways and it was just messy to me.
It didn’t seem to me to have a clear direction or point.
I was hoping for a big twist at the end to save it, alas…nope.
*** I love DARK romance, I love psychological twists, I love unconventional characters and stories.
I don’t read romance exclusively.
I’ve been an avid reader since I was 8 years old. Those aren’t my issues with this book/story and characters.
Unfortunately this just wasn’t a match for me.
>ANY of the author’s other books I would highly recommend, she has a unique style, great storyline’s and amazing characters. She’s written some of my favorites.

“I love you because I’m incapable of not loving you. It’s involuntary. It’s a deeply woven thread in my f*ck!ng soul.”

Memories of Life completes Colten and Josie’s story. This book is gripping, emotional, angsty, downright heartbreaking, and so freaking amazing.

In the most amazing Jewel fashion, she takes you on an incredible journey with her well written words, the depth of the story, and the love of her characters.

Allow yourself to get lost in a gripping, mind consuming, love story. I can promise you, you will fall head over heals with the story that is Colten and Josie

 Try this if you like…
- contemporary romance
- with a splash of supernatural & suspense
- angsty love
- past and present timelines
- dual POVs
- part 2 of Josie & Colton’s story

You may think you know where this story is going….but you’ll be wrong. Jewel E Ann never fails to make her romance plots unique, angsty and so very awe-inducing. I’m not going to say that I loved how everything worked out in the end…but it was definitely unlike any other romance ending I’ve encountered.

- The narration by Emery Erickson & Alastair Haynesbridge was fantastic.
- ratings score = 8.43/10

Tell me this book is your new security blanket without telling me it's your new security blanket. Memories of a Life is heart-rending, gut clenching, soul displacingly ... EVERYTHING.

Be prepared to cry, yell, and have a general lost feeling about you. Know you are not alone and that every person who has read this book blames Jewel. Jewel E Ann gave Colten and Jo the absolute worst pieces of a life. Terrible tragedy, loss, debilitating confusion, and unimaginable pain are spread through these pages' a fog so thick you can taste it. It seeps into your nose and mouth and tries to choke you with it's presence.

You can't fight. Every breathe means it sinks in more. No way to expell it; you need to work past it. Through it.

In the end, those pieces will fit into the puzzle perfectly but you'll be frazzled, chipped, and begging for more.

I enjoyed Memories of a Life far more than the first book, where my issues with the main character overshadowed my appreciation of the story.

Josie has matured, and her goal is to live a normal existence and build a future with Colten. She truly won the lottery when it comes to finding a best friend and soulmate. Colten is a ride or die boyfriend, and my heart ached for him as he tries to help Josie battle the ghosts of the past that threaten their happy ending.

Call me a glutton for punishment, but when I’m reading an angsty story, I enjoy being emotionally devastated. Jewel E. Ann brings out the dark, suspenseful, morally questionable, and heartbreaking sides of the story, and I ate it up. This emotional book was a good way to wrap up the duet.

"We're all a little broken. I'll take you chipped, cracked, or shattered into a million little pieces."

Memories of a Life continues where it left off from book one. Just like its predecessor, the first Life story, this book has been nothing but epic. Seriously, I don't know how this story is gonna end with all of the things Josie's going through. But I know and I have every faith that Colten and Josie's story will end in happy ending. With that, their love story has been such a wild ride of emotions and fair warning to readers to just be prepared to go to a wringer. I loved it and fingers crossed there will be another Life duet in the future!

“Falling in love is the biggest risk your heart will ever take. You can’t fall in love if your heart is not available, and the only way to make it available is by allowing it to be vulnerable.”

Jewel E. Ann knows how to deliver an addictive and unconventional story that will leave its mark on you . She never gives me the story I’m expecting yet I’ve never been disappointed. Memories of a Life is the conclusion to Josie and Colten’s story and it’s a doozy. I swear I was in tears for two chapters straight. My emotions were truly all over the place. From the cliff I was left hanging on in Pieces of a Life, I had no earthly idea what awaited me in book two.

“I love you because I’m incapable of not loving you. It’s involuntary. It’s a deeply woven thread in my fucking soul.”

Colten damn Mosley, this man right here. When he said he’s never love anyone like he loved Josie, he meant it with his whole chest. It took me a minute to realize that Josie was no different from him. Even though she showed it in different ways, sometimes even to my frustration, it was clear that there would never be a man who’d own her heart like Colten Mosley.

“We’re all a little broken. I’ll take you chipped, cracked, or shattered into a million little pieces. You’re my Colten. And I’m your Artemis.”

Jewel did not make this journey as easy one for them. You’d think after a seventeen year separation, she’d be gentle but uh uh, she took these two through it!! The angst was so freaking intense and I was filled with a nervous dread because I truly did not know how it would end. This duet is not going to be anything like you imagined so throw any and everything expectation out there window. But, just know it’s a ride that’s worth every single minute.

Part 2 duet ~ Colten & Josie

Definitely read [b:Pieces of a Life|61335399|Pieces of a Life (Colten & Josie, #1; Life, #3)|Jewel E. Ann|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1655857966l/61335399._SY75_.jpg|90330344] before this one.

Featuring: multiple 1st person POV, dual timeline, childhood sweethearts, mental illness, second chance
There are some heavy topics in this one ~ see my warnings below.

Colten & Josie's relationship still continues to be a complicated one. Josie has a lot going on in her head and is having trouble coping. Colten always said he'd stand by Josie and he never stops fighting to have his happily ever after because what he and Josie have is everything.

I don't want to say too much, so just know that if you decide to read this duet you're in for quite a twisted and emotional roller coaster of a ride.
