This book was a perfect, menacing terror--- the kind that creeps up on you and keeps popping up like a bad penny. Or a creepy otter carving (iykyk). Some parts were so disgustingly disturbing that I had to take little breaks, which I say positively. I don't know if I've read such a strangely heartwarming horror book before, and I loved nearly every minute of it.

Well...if you like 2000s trash horror movies you will probably like this book. I, however, was expecting a good horror novel with queer representation. I didn't get either (thanks to a booktok recommendation. I will never trust booktok again!! ). Wasn't spooked out even a little bit, the horror was really trashy and the queer "representation" was more of another white-gay-men-stereotype. 
The "funny parts" weren't funny but felt forced, I didn't like the characters (except Uncle Earl), and the descriptions weren't really good but messy, so it was hard to imagine while reading. I only finished the book because of my stubbornness.
