Wow y’all this was a slog. Like I love a good meandering book with more description and less plot but this book kept giving me pages and pages of random events and backstories and then doing NOTHING with it. The payoff was like zilch. And I almost gave up before even reaching that. Only my pride kept me trucking and I feel I am now no better for it anyway

I was hoping to get interested in the story but at almost 3 hours in, I just didn’t care.  Some of the parts were interesting but overall, it wasn’t my style.  Lots of ghost & spirit talk that was trying to make things interesting but it didn’t work.

I was slow to warm up to this book, but liked it more as it went, and the last 100 pages were great. A satisfying read and yes, one of the main characters is a camel.
