I loved this book. The world was built so well it was easier to resd through the second book. I loved the mystery the entrigue of the occult and epic descents into the Underworld.

I have to admit for most of this book I missed Darlington's POV so much. I could have wept when we finally got his chapters again. Oh I loooveee what Leigh is creating between Darlington and Alex. It's filthy, it's delicious, it's making my heart pace. Damn her for bread crumbing us, but I do love a real slowburn. It really was unclear in the first book if there was going to be anything romantic between these two. And based on the first book I would have liked Alex and Dawes to get together. However, Darlington completely melted me in just a few sentences. I would do anything for him. And I need him with Alex. It is fucking perfect how dark and devilish they both are now.

The vampire thing kinda scared me, I have to admit. I wasn't expecting it at all but it was actually very nicely written into this story and we got the nitty gritty background info on just how a vampire is created. It was pretty damn cool. I also liked that Alex was very shaken up about it, like she isn't immortal and all powerful after all. It was good. I enjoyed how the vampyrism tied into this book but that the Big Bad is going to be dealt with in the last part of this trilogy. I really liked how they didn't rush it and cram that into this book.

I loved the friendships so much. I loved Mercy! She was so fun, so excited and intelligent. I don't quite understand how she was so shaken at the end there. Alex was very very upfront about death and possibilities of dying when Mercy offered her help. Seemed weird how she shut down completely after the altercation with Eitan when just a few pages before she was like "let's get the bad guys".
Dawes was amazing. I love her character so much. I appreciate the ease and comfort she has with Alex. Let's be honest, even though Alex isn't the easiest person to be around she is a great friend and she deserves great friends for herself. I liked so much that Alex now has Dawes, Mercy, Darlington, Turner and even Tripp and Lauren. When we go back to Alex's childhood she was all alone and then she fell in with a bad crowd. There was no real love or care there. But she does have that now. ❤️

I like the world, I like the friendships. I like the atmosphere. And I really really like Il Bastone. A book that has a sentient house is a book for me.

Hell Bent is much like its predecessor Ninth House — messy, confusing, a bit disorganized, FUN, twisty, slightly addictive.

This was exactly like the first book. I really like this book I just don’t like reading it. The character and relationships are really great as well as the writing itself but the story is long and drawn out. I’m sure I’ll give the next one a read. And hate it the whole time.
